Join Onramp and Natasha Gitlin for the next round of the Onramp Speaker Series! Natasha has a fascinating journey that took her from the art world to the tech sector via self-study and a coding bootcamp. Natasha will touch on points such as:
-An overview of the job market and the most in-demand skills to have
-A focus on continued learning and developing a brand for the individual candidate. Examples: cloud computing, front-end development, dev-ops, integration of tools and APIs.
-Not getting overwhelmed with each company's variance regarding frameworks, languages etc.-The importance of vulnerability and networking to know what you resonate most with. What industry and what specific skills bring you the most enjoyment
-How I see the future of working and society going and hopefully ease the fear of all this ML/AI hype. I still believe tech workers to be integral to companies' platform/mission. It's a matter of being able to display that for future employers.
Natasha studied Painting at Texas State University in San Marcos and then moved to New York City in 2014. She worked at a decorative painting company, Grand Illusion where she did some design for their e-commerce site and began teaching herself to code. That led her to Flatiron School's coding bootcamp. Shortly after, she landed her first offer with MyBankTracker.com, a startup of only 20 people.Over the last 7 years, Natasha has worked as a full-stack developer for around 4 companies. Since moving back to Texas to help take care of her dad, she has been working independent contracts and freelancing while finishing an ML/Al program with MIT/IDSS and developing her consulting/design company Dimensional Design.
